Welcome Professor Erin Maher!

The department of sociology is proud to introduce the newest member of our faculty, Associate Professor Erin Maher! Professor Maher joins us from Casey Family Programs, the nation’s largest operating foundation focused solely on child welfare and ensuring children are safe, families are strong, and communities are supportive. While at Casey Family Programs, Dr. Maher was Director of Research and Program Evaluation overseeing a wide range of research projects concerning some of the issues and problems facing the US public child welfare system. Professor Maher received her doctorate degree from Indiana University and has maintained an active research agenda within the areas of early childhood, child welfare, and stratification and inequality. She has published over 30 peer reviewed articles, 25 research reports/briefs, and directed several national projects with over 3 million in research funds. Erin, a fellow Southerner and Midwesterner, is returning to her roots, both academically and geographically, with her own nine-year old tornado in tow—daughter Hadley. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Erin Maher to OU’s Department of Sociology. We are so happy to have her as part of our intellectual community.
