In 2016, Americans rated “guns” as the fifth most serious social problem facing America. Dr. Maher, Associate Professor of Sociology, hosted a panel on Gun Control and Gun Rights in her Social Problems course. Presenters included Don Spencer (on the left), President of the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association and Neil Heister (on the right), Legislative Policy Lead for the OK Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. The presenters and students modeled civil discourse, listening, and critical thinking on a contentious issue facing society today.
