Monday 28th, Tuesday 29th, and, Wednesday 30th   (No other class work until January 4th)

Week 3 (Overview)   Please, reload this page each time you view it, (I'm updating often).

Remember, this is a 3 day work week!

Those of you that have published your test page are now ready to begin the publishing process.

Monday, December 28th

I have a relatively simple assignment for each of you.  (Read: p. 60)

Go To:

http://www.ou.edu/class/webstudy/DEC98/download

userid:  student
password:  student
There are 4 files in the "download" location:
  • Dennis_Test.doc       21-Dec-98 19:24     4K
  • Dennis_Test.gif        21-Dec-98 19:24     9K
  • Dennis_Test.pdf       21-Dec-98 19:24     1K
  • Dennis_Test.txt        21-Dec-98 19:24     1K
Download each of the four files to your (local) machine.
Read: p. 60
Remember, hold down the "shift key" as you click-on the filename (at the download location).  The Save As dialog box will appear.  Be sure to put the files where you can find them in your machine.  (Perhaps you could create a folder titled WebStudy).  Once you have the files in your machine:

Try to "open" each of the 4 files.

Send me e-mail regarding your "experience."  In the Subject line of your e-mail please type:

WebStudy Download Test
In the Body of your e-mail please tell me if you can open (or not) each of the four files. Some of the files (for example:) Dennis_Test.pdf require a special plug-in.  Ref:
http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html
(this is an optional assignment, please "try" to get the plug-in and view the file).
I want you to learn to "get" the files from the download location.
(It is not a problem if you can't open all of the files).

Remember, I am using e-mail filters.  If you do as I ask, the filter will "see" your homework.

Tuesday, December 29th

I would like each of you to create a small web page that contains your (working) title and outline.  Keep it simple and follow the suggested format at:

http://www.ou.edu/class/webstudy/DEC98/gallery/dpf/example_outline.html

Please "name" your page outline.htm
and publish it to your server space. (Ref:)

http://www.ou.edu/class/webstudy/DEC98/course_outline_wk2.html#password

Send me e-mail when you have published your outline.  In the Subject line please type:

Web page Outline
In the Body of your e-mail please include the URL to your outline page.  (for example)

http://www.ou.edu/class/webstudy/DEC98/gallery/dpf/example_outline.html

Wednesday, December 30th

Remember the 20 URL's you gathered and sent to the listserver in Week 1???

I'd like you to create a web page with (at least) 5 of your best URL "links."

Read p.275
Please title your page links.htm

Send me e-mail when you publish your page.  Please type:

Best Web Links in the Subject line, (and include your URL to the page in your e-mail).

That is all..., until Monday, January 4th, 1999.

Week 4 will be the "work week" to create your individual (or group) web pages.
