Users of the Medical Imaging Technology Development Core (MITDC) and the Cancer Imaging Data Resource Core (CIDRC) are required to acknowledge COBRE support in all publications, posters, presentations, theses/dissertations, and reports that result from the use of Core equipment, technical support, data acquisition, analysis, or consultation.

Co-authorship should be offered to Core personnel when their involvement constitutes a significant intellectual or scientific contribution, including but not limited to:

The MicroCT system (Quantum FX, Perkin Elmer) was equipped with a micro focus x-ray tube (L10101, Hamamatsu Photonics, Japan) and a flat panel detector (PaxScan 1313, Varian Medical Systems, California, USA). The x-ray tube and the detector are placed opposite to each other on a rotating gantry around an animal bed at a distance of 265 mm. The system operates at three geometric magnifications (M) of 1.72, 2.54 and 5.10. The x-ray tube has a tungsten target, beryllium output window with a thickness of 150 µm.

Based on theoretical and bench top investigations and supported by NIH academic-industry partnership grant, a patient imaging Phase Sensitive Breast Tomosynthesis (PBT) was built. The PBT system consists of a microfocus polychromatic x-ray source and a direct conversion-based flat panel detector coated with a 1mm thick amorphous selenium layer allowing a high detective quantum efficiency at high energies. The PBT system scans a compressed breast over 15° with 9 angular projection views. The high-energy scan parameters are carefully selected to ensure similar or lower mean glandular dose levels to the clinical standard of care systems. Phase retrieval and data binning are applied to the phase contrast angular projection views and a filtered back-projection algorithm is used to reconstruct the final images.

Andor BC43 benchtop spinning disk inverted confocal microscope enables confocal, widefield, and transmitted light imaging capabilities with four fixed wavelengths of 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, and 638 nm. Objectives include 10x and 20x air, and 40x oil. Image acquisition speeds are up to 10 times faster than conventional point scanner-based confocal systems. The camera resolution is 6.5 µm pixel with 2048x2000 pixels and a field-of-view of 18.4 mm (diagonal).

These new high performance deep-learning (DL) workstations were deployed at OSCER (OU Supercomputing Center for Education & Research). A total of 4 workstations were deployed. Each workstation is based on Dell Precision 7960 rack mount server, which equips two RTX 6000 Ada GPU cards. The detailed specifications are as follows: Four Intel Xeon Silver 4410Y (30MB Cache, 12 cores, 24 threads, 2.0 GHz to 3.9 GHz Turbo, 150W) CPU; 256GB (16x16GB) DDR5, 4800MHz, RDIMM ECC Memory;  2TB, 7200 RPM, 3.5-inch, SATA, HDD, AG-Enterprise Class;  OU Supercomputing Center for Education & Research Two Intel Xeon 4th Generation processors (Socket E, LGA-4677); 1TB ECC DDR5 4800 MHz memory.

The Vevo F2 LAZR-X combines ultra-high-frequency and low frequency ultrasound (US) imaging with photoacoustic (PA) capabilities in a convenient all-in-one platform. While US provides high resolution anatomical imaging, PA provides co-registered real-time oxygen saturation and molecular imaging. Thus, the Vevo F2 can serve the entire in vivo oncology imaging workflow from precisely inducing orthotopic cancer models, to detecting pre-palpable lesions, monitoring tumor development, and assessing response to therapy. Moreover, the real-time oxygen saturation and molecular imaging capability will allow obtaining functional change and quantify drug biodistribution from intra-tumoral to whole body, thus, providing a comprehensive view of the tumor response to anti-parasitic drugs.

This is an fNIRS system compatible with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). The NIRScout X System can support up to 64x LED-2 illuminators and 32x detectors, and it is capable of tandem (multi-system) and hyperscanning (multi-subject) measurements.

The system comes with a complete cap kit, which includes adult head caps of different sizes, shower cap, holders, tops, links, cable trees and accessories for 16 sources and 16 detectors, and grommets to fit low-profile TMS- and MRI-compatible fiber optic NIRScap probes.

RTS2-301-SMS laser confocal Raman microscopy/spectroscopy system is a two-wavelength (532 nm, 785 nm) fiber-coupled laser confocal upright microscope and Raman spectroscopy system. Both brightfield and confocal microscopy imaging can be performed. A 320-mm spectrometer (with three gratings: 1800g/mm, 600g/mm, 150g/mm) and a VIS-NIR CCD camera (2000x256 pixels, 15um pixel, QE >90%) is integrated for Raman confocal microscopy/spectroscopy with spectral resolution of <2cm-1. Up to four electrically switchable laser optical paths are available for integrating additional microscopy/imaging modalities.

QTscan 2000 model-A multimodal ultrasound breast tomography system is a non-invasive, FDA cleared multimodal ultrasound (US) tomography system for simultaneous transmission-US (speed-of-sound or SOS) and reflection-US high-resolution 3D breast imaging without the need of contrast agents or radiation. These two US imaging modalities provide highly complementary and synergistic information about breast tissue, which may enable healthcare providers to effectively assess breast health. Because SOS-imaging is quantitative and the QTscan utilizes true 3D data acquisition and reconstruction, breast tissue characterization and discrimination is possible. Moreover, the QTscan technology can image through dense breasts unlike conventional breast imaging modalities, such as mammography. The FDA has designated the QTscan as meeting an unmet medical need for screening women at high-risk of breast cancer (FDA Breakthrough Device Designation). The QTscan is currently being used in clinics for both primary and supplementary screening, but it cannot be yet marketed as a replacement for mammography.
