Undergraduate Course Advising and Career Advisors

The goal of Course Advising through the Williams Student Services Center (WSSC), is to help students make informed decisions, avoid unnecessary coursework, and create a clear academic pathway toward completing their chosen program of study. Course advising is a supportive process where students receive guidance on selecting the right classes to meet their academic goals. Academic advisors help students understand degree requirements, plan their course schedules, and stay on track for graduation. They offer personalized recommendations based on a student’s interests, strengths, and future aspirations, while also providing information on prerequisites, course sequencing, and academic policies.

ECE faculty are available as Career Advisors to offer support through one-on-one sessions that help students make informed decisions about their futures. The goal of career advising is to empower individuals to confidently navigate the start of their career journeys and to successfully transition from academia to the workforce.

*For more information on course descriptions and availability, students are encouraged to visit the course schedules ClassNav website. This resource provides up-to-date details on class schedules, course content, and enrollment options to help with academic planning.

**Please visit with faculty career advisors to discuss areas of interest in ECE, learn about internships and alternatives, and explore course options that align with your academic and professional goals. ECE career advisors can provide valuable insights, suggest relevant opportunities, and help you identify practical experiences that complement your field of study.

***Graduate students are not required to participate in course advising in order to enroll in courses. Instead, they often work directly with their program advisors or faculty mentors to plan their academic path. Graduate students are expected to take greater responsibility in tracking their own progress. However, academic guidance is still available to assist with research direction, thesis or project requirements, and professional development opportunities.
