Undergraduate Students

Start your research journey with a supportive, handson team at OU—no prior research or ML experience needed. We’ll train you!

  • Curious and eager to learn
  • Comfortable working in a team
  • Interested in engineering, data science, AI/ML, or manufacturing
  • Willing to take on structured technical tasks with guidance 
  • Creating code documentation (explaining functions, dependencies, workflow)
  • Reviewing literature on features extracted from additive manufacturing image data
  • Implementing featureextraction code in Python (preferred), R, or C++
  • Manually annotating image features to identify part defects
  • Running basic statistical analyses (linear regression, regression trees, feature explainability — all tools provided in Python/R)
  • Handson learning with mentorship every step of the way
  • Supporting graduate students, faculty, and research staff on assigned project tasks
