All students graduating from the University of Oklahoma must apply for graduation through the Graduation Application link on the Academics tab in one.ou.edu. Master’s and doctoral students may submit their application within the year they intend to graduate.
Be sure to apply for the term you are planning to graduate by the term deadline:

If you cannot attend Graduation Gear-Up, students can purchase graduation gear directly from the Jostens website.
Orders much be placed by October 31 by 5 pm for delivery by the December ceremonies.
There is a $14.95 shipping fee.
Students may be awarded additional stoles and cords based on their membership or participation in organizations. Please consult with your organization's president or adviser to determine if there are stoles or cords and available as well as where they can be purchased or picked up.
An OU stole is available for purchase at Graduation Gear-Up or at the Jostens store in the Sooner Shop (located in the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium 1185 Asp Avenue, Norman, OK 73069 ) min November.
The OU Stole is $25.
Effective Spring 2024, undergraduate degrees will be conferred with Latin honorifics based on the following GPA requirements. Students graduating with Latin honorifics will wear a hood with their gown as indicated below.
• Combined Retention GPA (includes all courses taken with repeat, reprieve and renewal policies applied – Overall Transcript Total)
• cum Laude (3.6 to 3.74) - Gold Hood
• Magna cum Laude (3.75 to 3.89) - Cream Hood
• Summa cum Laude (3.9 to 4) - Crimson Hood
• Minimum of 60 hours taken at OU
• No disciplinary Academic Integrity action
Both the final transcript and the diploma will carry the designation of Summa cum Laude, Magna cum Laude, or cum Laude. The student's academic records will be reviewed for anticipated honors based on all academic work at the end of the semester prior to participating in graduation ceremonies. Students may wear the associated hood based on this anticipated status.
Latin Honorofics hoods can be purchased during Graduation Gear-Up or the Jostens store in the Sooner Shop (located in the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium 1185 Asp Avenue, Norman, OK 73069 ) starting mid November.
Latin Honorifics Hoods: $17.25 (sales tax not included)
Latin honorifics are awarded to undergraduate students based on outstanding cumulative grade point averages. The Latin cum Laude distinction recognizes undergraduate students with superior academic performance. A minimum grade point average of 3.5 is required to graduate cum Laude, 3.75 for Magna cum Laude, and 3.9 to receive the highest distinction of Summa cum Laude. Honors College students have distinct GPA requirements. Students who are graduating with Latin honorifics are identified by a gold, cream, or crimson satin bachelor hood.

Undergraduate students with an overall 4.0 GPA are eligible to receive a 4.0 University medallion on a crimson ribbon.
Students must have a 4.0 on all OU work and on any work transferred from other institutions, including concurrent enrollment taken during high school. They may wear the medallion during Commencement exercises.
In addition, their names will be listed in a special section of the May graduation program, and they will be invited to attend a special 4.0 University medallion presentation.
Students who qualify will be notified by Graduation and Persistence Support. University Experiences will provide information regarding the presentation. Presentations are held during the fall and spring semesters. If students are unable to attend the presentation, medallions will be mailed to you.
