Accessibility Compliance Taskforce

Accessibility Compliance Taskforce Updates

Mission

The Accessibility Compliance Taskforce is dedicated to working towards the University of Oklahoma's full compliance with Title II requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The taskforce promotes digital accessibility and equal access across all university programs, services, and activities through collaborative efforts, policy development, leveraging technological capabilities and applying use of best practices.

Purpose

The Accessibility Compliance Taskforce supports university leadership in developing and executing a comprehensive roadmap for accessibility compliance, specifically focused on the new Title II guidelines effective in April 2026. The taskforce identifies gaps, recommends improvements, and ensures that accessibility initiatives are aligned with federal regulations and institutional goals. This includes evaluating digital environments, services, and communications to ensure equitable access for individuals with disabilities.

New Request Form Available for VPAT & ACR Reviews

We’re excited to share that a new request form is now available for faculty and staff who need a VPAT or ACR reviewed before purchasing software.

Important: If you’re planning to buy or renew software for your department, you are required to ensure that the software meets digital accessibility criteria to align with the ADA Title II update and the university’s Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Policy.

For more information on the new federal regulation and the university policy, please visit the following resources:

Two common accessibility documents you might see are:

  • VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template): A document completed by a vendor that explains how their product meets accessibility standards.
  • ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report): The report created from a VPAT that summarizes how accessible the product is.

Reviewing these documents helps ensure that the software we use is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This supports our university’s commitment to equal access in learning and working environments.

To make this process easier, you can now submit a request for a VPAT or ACR review using our new online form.

Ready to submit a request? Access the VPAT and ACR Review Request Form

Once submitted, the Digital Accessibility team will review the documentation and follow up with next steps.

If you have questions about VPATs, ACRs, or digital accessibility in general:

Thank you for helping us create a more accessible campus experience for all.
