Education Abroad

University of Oklahoma students can choose from a wide variety of summer options for study abroad. The choices range from one-month intensive language courses to faculty-led trips that move from one city to another within a single country.

This website contains a lot of information about various options for summer study abroad. After you have reviewed this website to educate yourself about summer programs abroad, we invite you to come to our office in person to speak with our summer study abroad advisor, Alice Kloker. She has walk-in advising hours on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am, and on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. If your class schedule conflicts with these times, please email or call Alice (405) 325-1693 to make an appointment.

To learn more about summer study abroad options, please explore the links to the following program types: OU Journey Programs, Language-learning Programs, English Language Programs, OU College (“non-EA”) Programs and Affiliate Programs.

All OU students with a 2.5 combined retained GPA are eligible to apply for a summer program though Education Abroad. Applications from non-OU students will not be considered. Depending on your program choice, the deadline to submit all application materials is February 6, February 27 or March 13, 2009.  Click here for a PDF version of the summer application form, and here for a Word version.  Please note that you must also obtain an academic reference, who will need to complete the summer recommendation form on our Faculty page.

OU students accepted to an Education Abroad summer program are required to attend a pre-departure orientation in April. All accepted participants are obliged to read their OU email for announcements about pre-departure orientation dates as well as other time-sensitive program information.

To apply for a Presidential International Travel Fellowship, please refer to our Scholarships page. Please note that PITF applications for summer programs, regardless of program type or destination, are due by Friday, March 13, 2009.
