2019 Spring Convocation

More than 200 students took part in the spring 2019 convocation ceremony on May 11. This semester, 66% of the undergraduate class graduated with distinction. Most Outstanding Senior award winner Jaydn Means represented the graduating class as the student speaker for the ceremony. There were 121 hoodings of graduate students at the ceremony, with 19 doctoral degrees conferred and 102 master’s degrees.

 

At the OU commencement ceremony on May 10, JRCoE graduate and Board of Advocates member Cathey Simmons Humphreys (B.S. Ed. 1970) received an honorary doctorate. Having a philanthropic focus on higher education and study abroad, Humphreys has endowed academic and study abroad scholarships at OU and supports an ongoing student and faculty research project in Uganda. She also endowed a distinguished lecture series in the college that is named in her honor. Through the lecture series, innovators in education are brought to campus to tackle real-world problems and exchange ideas with students and faculty.
