Stephen Wurst is an organist and sacred musician currently serving as Director of Music Ministries and Organist at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. An active performer, he appears regularly as a guest artist across Oklahoma in both solo and collaborative settings, including engagements with the Norman Philharmonic, the University of Central Oklahoma Concert Chorale, and the University of Oklahoma Wind Symphony.

Wurst holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, where his research focused on the life and organ works of Belgian-American composer Camil Van Hulse. He also holds degrees from Concordia University Wisconsin and the University of Oklahoma. Wurst has held leadership positions with both the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the Handbell Musicians of America, where he currently serves as Secretary. An active handbell composer, he has a forthcoming publication through Beckenhorst Press.

His principal teachers include Damin Spritzer, John Behnke, Adam Pajan, and John Schwandt. Originally from northern Michigan, Wurst now resides in Norman, where he continues his work as a performer, arranger, and church musician.
