Campers spend the week having fun and learning new things about the world around them. The airport provides opportunities to explore STEM (science, math, engineering and technology) from a unique perspective. In addition to learning things about all kinds of flying birds, campers enjoy rockets, kites and, of course, OU’s fleet of training aircraft to climb in and explore. 6- and 7-year-old campers do not fly.

^Due to the way Memorial Day falls in 2027, Penguins will convert to a 4-day camp this year running Tuesday through Friday.

*Flights will be scheduled sometime between Wednesday and Saturday of the camp week. Many factors go into scheduling flights including safe weather conditions, aircraft and pilot availability, and number of campers in each camp. Our flight department will assess all these factors on Monday of each camp week and begin scheduling flights. Parents and campers will be notified of flight schedules as soon as possible after camp begins.

**Cost does not include the $25.00 non-refundable application fee

^^Due to the way Memorial Day falls in 2027, this Eagles 2 session will run Tuesday through Saturday.

Flights are subject to weather and aircraft/pilot availability. Cancellation of flights may become necessary. If SFA must cancel scheduled flights, we will offer a make-up time that participants may sign up for on a first-come, first-served basis. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate a camper’s schedule if they cannot attend the offered make-up time; however, we cannot guarantee a flight outside the times we provide.

Please note that if a camper misses their scheduled flight due to a personal conflict, make-up flights will no longer be offered. We encourage families to keep this policy in mind when selecting their child’s camp week.

Further, SFA may substitute the type of flight your camper receives if circumstances require it. This most commonly affects Eagles 2 participants, who are scheduled for two separate flights (one pattern flight and one maneuvers flight) but may instead fly a single combined Pattern/Maneuvers flight when needed.

Scholarships

Partial scholarships are available for summer camp participants through a generous grant provided by the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the participant must be registered for a camp (there is a $25.00 non-refundable registration fee). Scholarships are need-based and applications are accepted between March 1st and May 1st.

When applying for a scholarship, please have the following informaion available:

  • Number of people in household
  • Household adjusted gross income for last year (from your most recent tax forms)
  • Description of family circumstances (why you are requesting scholarship assistance to pay for summer camp)
  • A Creative Submission from the prospective camper

A Creative Submission can be an essay, video, poem, story, picture, diorama or other creative work that your child appears in or has created in which your child shows or tells the scholarship selection committee why they want to come to camp.

Please be advised that an incomplete scholarship form will not be considered for an award.

NEW FOR 2027

EAGLES 2 IS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING. Additionally, campers are not eligible for a scholarship if they are repeating a camp they have previously attended. If a camper is interested in attending Eagles 2 but needs financial assistance, we encourage them to apply for a Summer Camp High School Intern position with SFA. This is a paid role that can help cover the cost of flight camp tuition.

Summer Camp Intern Program

Made possible by grant funding from the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, Sooner Flight Academy's summer camp intern program is a wonderful opportunity for teens ages 16 to 18 year olds who have attended at least one session of SFA Eagles camp to gain valuable work experience while mentoring younger campers.

The intern program is an integral part of the SFA experience for all of our campers who benefit from being around teen mentors who help the camp run smoothly and bring their own camp experience to the classroom atmosphere.

Those selected for the internship program are required to work at least 3 weeks during the summer camp sessions which includes 1 week of training.

Applications for High School Intern are now closed.
