Summer 2019

Dean's Letter

What’s next at OU?

I get this question frequently after a tough year in which our alma mater was in the news too often for all the wrong reasons. Maybe we who work at the university, to use an old phrase, are too close to the story. But the cumulative effect of one negative headline after the other, particularly involving the transition in the president’s office, eroded morale on campus and no doubt left many of you wondering when it would end.

Well, what a difference the summer makes!

Letter from Lee Reynolds

Summer at Gaylord College is always a good time to embark on new projects and this summer has been no exception. The hallway outside Studio A, where we host OU Nightly at 4:30 Monday through Friday, now features our new Brag Board. Letter from the President

What an exciting time to be at Gaylord College and for the JayMac Alumni Association!

In the last four years, Gaylord’s enrollment has grown 20% and JayMac has played a large part in that. Many alumni across the state and country have assisted in the hand-delivered admissions box experience, resulting in 77 boxes delivered to in-state prospects (with 65 of those already enrolled to be a part of the class of 2023).

Letter from the Editor

When you’re a student at Gaylord College, summer’s always been a great time for personal and professional growth, and this year has been no exception. Whether our current students are reaching new heights with summer internships at the top media companies in the nation or recent graduates taking that first big step into their careers, big things are happening.

We want to hear about the big things happening for all of our alumni, no matter how little or long they’ve been out of school! Have you recently switched jobs or started on a brand new career path? Are you engaged? Just married? Whatever it may be, we want to hear about it!

All of these exciting things will be compiled into Class Notes so you can keep up with the familiar faces you spent time with at OU. Gaylord is a college of storytellers, and we can’t wait to hear yours. Share your stories with us by emailing gaylordalumni@ou.edu.

We look forward to hearing from you!
