Architecture Student Wins AIA Dallas Student Design Award

Fifth year architecture student, Benjamin Jawad, won an AIA Dallas Student Design award for his project 8209 Park Lane. The project was developed in the Design 7 course under the direction of Amy Leveno. The competition allowed entries from current architecture students from Texas and Oklahoma, both from the undergraduate and graduate level.

This semester, a graduate architecture design studio led by Prof. Amy Leveno, AIA, took an educational trip to Houston, focusing on architectural spaces designed for art and art creation. The trip provided the graduate students with an invaluable opportunity to see firsthand some of the most innovative architectural projects and firms in action.

Each Year, D Home recognizes the top architects in the Dallas area to highlight their incredible work in the industry.

Architecture Students Travel to Arkansas for Field Trip

A group of 30 undergraduate and graduate Architecture students recently traveled to Arkansas for a two-day field trip. Accompanied by Professors Amy Leveno, Amber Sarmiento and Alan Moring, the students toured an award-winning Architecture studio and visited various architectural sites in Bentonville and Fayetteville.

Architecture Faculty Selected as Dallas Architecture Forum Awards Finalist

OFFICIAL, an award-winning Architecture, interiors and furniture design studio owned by OU Architecture faculty Amy Leveno and Mark Leveno, was recently named as a Dallas Architecture Forum Design Recognition Awards Finalist. The firm received an award for their in-progress project “Granger Annex Adaptive Reuse” in the category of “Adaptive Re-Use, Preservation and Non-Residential Restoration” as a “Looking Forward” project.

Arch. Faculty Leads DeafSpace Design Charrette with Jeffrey Mansfield

Jeffrey Mansfield, principal at the Model of Architecture Serving Society (MASS) Design Group and director of MASS’s Deaf Space and Disability Justice Design Lab, assisted OU Architecture faculty in leading a five-day design charrette. Mansfield encouraged students to explore DeafSpace design principles in their projects.

Thirty-eight architecture undergraduate and graduate students recently took a two-day field trip to Bentonville, Arkansas and Wichita, Kansas. The students visited multiple architecture offices and firms as well as toured the Crystal Bridges Museum and Exploration Place.

Arch. Faculty Receive AIA Dallas Design Awards

Amy Leveno, Assistant Professor of Architecture, and Mark Leveno, Adjunct Faculty Member, were recently awarded an AIA Dallas Unbuilt Design Award for their firm OFFICIAL’s Granger Annex Adaptive Reuse Project. The AIA Dallas Unbuilt Design Awards are organized by the American Institute of Architects Dallas Design Awards Committee, whose purpose is to recognize outstanding work by local architects and honor the collaborative efforts of architects, clients, and consultants who achieve design excellence. The Unbuilt Design Awards showcase progressive ideas and dynamic design solutions.
