Daniel J. Butko

Director
Division of Architecture

As an architect, educator, and acoustical consultant, Daniel has combined interests in music, evidence-based design, and science throughout his 30+ year career. Notable recognition includes: EPA P3 Award, ASA Rossing Prize in Acoustics Education, Architect R+D Award, ACI Award, AIA OK Outstanding Educational Contributions Award, NSF Grant, AIA project awards, and various peer-reviewed publications. Since joining OU Gibbs College of Architecture in 2010, Daniel has fulfilled administrative roles, taught design studios and lecture courses, led architectural acoustic research, and advised students on award-recognized projects. In addition to composing and recording music, Daniel enjoys photography and traveling with his family.

“Analogous to the construction process of each piece building upon the next, architectural education and practice encompass a multifaceted process of codependent components.”
