Gina Sofola serves as an Affiliate Faculty Member in the Regional and City Planning program at the Gibbs College of Architecture. She is also President and Principal Consultant of Sofola and Associates, Inc., a project management and planning firm, and co-founder of BlackSpace Oklahoma, a nonprofit organization providing planning resources to African American communities across the state.

With over 30 years of experience in project planning—from strategic development through post-construction—Gina has led public and private projects nationwide. Her career includes roles as a Project Engineer for Fortune 500 companies, municipalities, and private developers. Guided by a deep commitment to urban form and quality of life, Gina brings a trained eye to how people interact with the built environment. She actively pursues opportunities to influence transportation, environmental, and international planning initiatives that impact underserved communities.

Her work is rooted in the preservation of historic and cultural resources, particularly within African American communities, and she is passionate about protecting and enhancing greenspace. She views historic preservation and environmental conservation as inseparable priorities in urban development. At the core of her practice is a desire to build capacity within communities and foster a deeper understanding of the relationship between physical planning and economic development.
