Harvey Pratt—Marine Corps veteran and member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes of Oklahoma—unanimously beat out five other finalists and won an international contest for the design of the National Native American Veterans Memorial. Out of the five finalists, the judges selected Pratt’s “Warriors’ Circle of Honor” for the Memorial, which breaks ground in Washington D.C. on September 21, 2019. The Gibbs College of Architecture’s own dean and professor of architecture, Hans E. Butzer, was part of the team that helped Pratt finalize his design after it made the final round of selection.
