Current Landscape Architecture student Subhashini Gamegedara and recent graduate Rachel Ware were awarded Merit Awards from the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architecture (OKASLA) at the chapter’s recent annual meeting.

Gamagedara earned the OKASLA Merit Award in Communications for her project entitled “Wholistic Compassion.”

Ware earned the OKASLA Merit Award in Planning and Analysis for her project entitled “Brock Creek Corridor: Rediscovering the Value of Urban Creeks.” Ware produced this report as part of her graduate work in the Division of Landscape Architecture. The aim of the project was to create a framework for implementing green infrastructure along tributaries of the Oklahoma River to prevent further pollution of the river. Ware’s final report communicated the historical, spatial, and economic context of the watershed and provided conceptual designs for green infrastructure projects, opportunities for funding, and strategies for implementation.
