Construction Science faculty members Somik Ghosh and Matt Reyes recently received a $5,000 grant from TEXO for a construction safety project.
In 2017, one in five worker deaths were in the construction industry (OSHA). The construction industry’s fatal and non-fatal injury rates reveal it to be among the most dangerous industries in which to work.
Ghosh and Reyes’ proposed project will develop, implement, and measure the effectiveness of trade-specific safety training strategies that bridge the linguistic and cultural differences of the construction workforce.

Busch Professor of Construction Science, on beginning her term as president of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC), an international organization dedicated to advancing construction education through teaching, research and service.

Person, PhD, will step down from her position at Gibbs College as she moves to Tucson with her family, effective June 30, 2026.
