The Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture Interior Design program recently partnered with its professional advisory board to host an all-day mentoring event.

The event, held on Thursday, November 7, 2019, brought 19 industry professionals from Dallas, Oklahoma City and Tulsa to the OU campus for a full day spent sharing their experiences with more than 100 students.

About 70 freshman and sophomore interior design students had the opportunity to observe a panel discussion focused on sharing the professional practice experiences of the panelists, as well as guidance and advice for students preparing to become interior design professionals.

About 50 students at the junior, senior and graduate student levels, had the opportunity to view a panel discussion led by the motors and to participate in meeting-style sessions to receive feedback on their portfolios, resumes, and Q&A time for sharing information about the profession. These students had the opportunity to meet in small groups for 30 minute sessions with four different mentors. They closed out the day with critiques of their studio projects led by the mentors.

Check out the Facebook photo album from the event.

A special thank you to our sponsors, Carpenter-Smith SouthwestMaharam, and Concept Surfaces, and all of the mentors that offered their valuable time and insights!
