Building on conversations about the future of design pedagogy that were started during the March 2020 “Schools of Thought” conference, the Gibbs College of Architecture at the University of Oklahoma recently hosted a series of webinar conversations that explored how to adapt to our changing world, or better yet, how to rebuild it as a better world.
Architecture faculty and designers are isolated and wrestling with questions about teaching online, the mental health challenges of isolation, how to adapt cities to the pandemic, and so much more right now. The “Schools of Thought” Summer Webinar Series sought to answer the question: How can we use the platforms we have to help in some way?

Gibbs College of Architecture Professors Amber Brown and Amy Leveno led 29 students to Dallas, Texas, in September for a learning experience as part of their Design 7 Studio course.
Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture professor and Institute for Quality Communities Director Dr. Amber N. Wiley’s book, Model Schools in the Model City: Race, Planning, and Education in the Nation’s Capital, has received two major honors from the Urban History Association.
