Assistant Professor of Interior Design Dr. Negar Matin recently published her study entitled “Interdisciplinary Educational Modules: Using Smart Colored Windows in Responsive Façade Systems” in the Journal of Technology Interface International. This research is the result of close collaboration between Dr. Matin and Professor Ali Eydgahi and Forough Zareanshahraki from the College of Engineering and Technology at Eastern Michigan University. The purpose of this interdisciplinary research is to assist and encourage the students in Interior Design programs to be more involved in interdisciplinary projects that are inspired by the use of knowledge from other fields.

The Gibbs Design in Action Awards (GDAA) program, led by Dr. Wanda Liebermann, has announced its 2026–2027 funded student projects. The initiative supports design and research work that addresses social, cultural, and economic issues in the built environment through collaboration with faculty and community partners.
