Dr. Lee Fithian, an associate professor with the Division of Architecture, was recently appointed to International Code Council’s International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) Envelope Embodied Carbon Subcommittee.

This committee is one of several that serve as the foundation upon which the system of International Codes (I-Codes), standards, and related services are built. By serving on this subcommittee, Dr. Fithian will help update the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and advance the vision and work required to help communities and the building sector meet energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction goals. She will also review and evaluate proposed code change proposals for recommendation back to the ICC Consensus Committee.

The I-Codes, developed by the International Code Council, are a family of fifteen coordinated, modern building safety codes that help ensure the engineering of safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. They are the most widely accepted, comprehensive set of model codes used in the United States.

Congratulations to Dr. Fithian on this impressive appointment!
