RCPL Assistant Professor Dr. C. Aujean Lee recently presented at the Urban Affairs Association conference in Washington DC. The Urban Affairs Association (UAA) is dedicated to creating interdisciplinary spaces for engaging in intellectual and practical discussions about urban life. Through theoretical, empirical, and action-oriented research, the UAA fosters diverse activities to understand and shape a more just and equitable urban world.
During a session titled, “Addressing Neighborhood Challenges Via Nonprofits and Partnerships,” Dr. Lee presented ongoing findings on her project with Dr. John C. Harris, the Division Director of Regional + City Planning. Dr. Lee and Dr. Harris’s research focuses on nonprofit neighborhood planning in Oklahoma City. This project received support from the Program Research Enhancement and Faculty Improvement Program Grant.
The Gibbs Design in Action Awards (GDAA) program, led by Dr. Wanda Liebermann, has announced its 2026–2027 funded student projects. The initiative supports design and research work that addresses social, cultural, and economic issues in the built environment through collaboration with faculty and community partners.
The OU Institute for Quality Communities (IQC) 2024 collaboration with the Historic Threatt Filling Station has been recognized in the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's newly released Byways Report: The Scenic Route to Rural Prosperity – a story-driven publication exploring how road trip culture and place-based tourism can fuel economic growth in rural communities.
