Dr. Somik Ghosh, Associate Professor in the Haskell and Irene Lemon Division of Construction Science, recently presented his research findings at the Oklahoma Building Summit & Expo in Oklahoma City. The summit was held on September 14th and 15th and was attended by over five hundred attendees and over seventy exhibitors. The summit promotes better building practices across the state of Oklahoma by offering educational opportunities and an expo of suppliers and vendors of building materials.
Dr. Ghosh presented the findings of his ongoing study on the cost-benefit analyses of FORTIFIED Homes. The FORTIFIED construction method is a voluntary construction standard that aims to protect homes against severe weather. The cost-benefit analysis is being conducted by Dr. Ghosh and Dr. Ben Bigelow with assistance from Construction Science graduate student Alex Smith.
The Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture announces John Harris as Associate Dean for Research ad interim, effective Aug. 25, 2026, until the permanent position is filled.
Gibbs College is pleased to announce the 2026 Gibbs College Faculty & Staff Awards recipients. These individuals were recognized by Dean Butzer during the Gibbs College Back to School Meeting and will be honored during the Celebration Banquet in October. They were nominated by their colleagues via an open nomination process.
Telesis, the Gibbs College of Architecture’s student journal, has been awarded a grant from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts to support its next two issues, “Pause” (Volume IX) and “React” (Volume X).
