We are thrilled to celebrate Sean Kueny, who has been named the 2025 Outstanding Senior in the Humanities for the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma!
A native of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Sean is pursuing a double major in Philosophy (Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences) and Architecture through the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture’s 3½ + 1½ year Master of Architecture program. This unique academic path allows him to simultaneously engage in undergraduate and graduate coursework in the humanities and design.
Reflecting on his time at OU, Sean shares, “The opportunity to concurrently study architecture and philosophy has been very enriching. Architecture combines creativity and practicality, while philosophy enhances the critical thinking needed to combine the two.”
Looking ahead, Sean plans to complete his graduate studies in Architecture next year and begin his professional career at an architecture firm, possibly in the Kansas City area.

Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture professor and Institute for Quality Communities Director Dr. Amber N. Wiley’s book, Model Schools in the Model City: Race, Planning, and Education in the Nation’s Capital, has received two major honors from the Urban History Association.
Research initiated by Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture alumna Naila Hasan during her master’s studies at the University of Oklahoma has continued through faculty collaboration and resulted in a peer-reviewed publication in HERD: Health Environments Research & Design Journal.
