Design-Build Team Places Third at International ASC Region 8 Competition in Dublin

Gibbs Construction Science and Architecture students recently traveled to Dublin, Ireland, to compete in the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 8 Student Competition. The team partnered with Czech Technical University and secured third place in the Design-Build category.

The annual competition brings together Construction Science and Architecture students from 15 colleges and universities across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Participants engage in real-world challenges that test collaboration, critical thinking, and the ability to deliver professional-quality proposals under significant time constraints.

GCA students Tanner Harris, Brooke Harkins, and Ben Jawad, coached by Dr. Tammy McCuen and Professor of Practice Alan Moring, had eight hours to develop a comprehensive Design-Build proposal for a new Sports Science and Health Building at TU Dublin’s Tallaght Campus. Their submission integrated architectural design and construction methodologies while addressing functionality, sustainability, and value for money for a diverse university community.
