The Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture recently hosted the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) 2025 Faculty Bootcamp. Once a year, construction educators and industry partners join together and shape the future of the industry. Over the span of several days, professionals explore new technologies, exchange best practices, and strengthen their commitment to preparing the next generation of industry leaders.
“The event offers construction faculty an opportunity to further develop their cost estimating and VDC (BIM) knowledge and skills in an interactive environment focused on teaching and technology,” says Dr. Tammy McCuen. “Faculty learn teaching techniques and collaborations with peers at all levels of experience as educators.”

The bootcamp offered two programs for those in cost estimating and virtual design and construction (VDC). Some sessions catered to the estimating group included bid estimating , pricing methods and resources, DroneDeploy, and Bluebeam.
Some VDC sessions covered Revizto, a 2D and 3D BIM project data collection platform, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and DroneDeploy, which automates reality capture creating 2D maps and 3D models from drone data.
“Being selected to host the 2025 event at the Gibbs College of Architecture on the OU-Norman Campus was an honor for the Construction Science Division,” says Dr. McCuen. “Attendees reported a positive experience and enjoyed their time on our beautiful campus. The event will return in June 2026 and has been expanded to include a new topic for the third bootcamp.”
