Join us for a day-long tour of top Route 66 sights and landscape-based writing workshop with OU creative writing faculty.

Develop place-based literacy by learning to read place and write about your experience.

Complete an original writing product about your experience with the option digital publication through the festival website.


  • Board a coach bus and visit some classic sites along Route 66
  • Survey classic cars at the Sapulpa Route 66 Auto Museum
  • Visit the Round Barn in Arcadia
  • Hear from diverse communities along the Route
  • Eat a classic Route 66 lunch provided by the Chicken Shack
  • Develop place-based literacy while on the tour with coached writing exercises
  • Stop for a drink at Pops! before return to OKC

  • Optional intensive writing development workshop with faculty writing coaches
  • OKC-Based writing workshop
  • Attend one or both sessions
  • Develop your original writing project into a publishable piece
