exchange upgrade begins Friday OU IT will begin upgrading current Exchange users to the new Exchange 2007 system beginning this Friday, June 29 at 5 pm. Upgrades will continue after hours and on the weekends throughout the month of July. While this is a large project, the individual impact is minimal. During this month-long process, you might experience a single, short period of downtime (corresponding to your mailbox size) while OU IT transfers your personal mailbox. If you are using Outlook when your transfer begins, you will lose connection to the mail server. Once the transfer completes, you will be prompted to re-start Outlook. Simply close Outlook and re-open it to begin accessing your mail on the new system. WHY EXCHANGE 2007? While Outlook 2003 users will see very little change, Exchange 2007 offers numerous advantages, including improved security and reliability, faster search, and exciting new features that are available through Outlook Web Access (OWA) at exchange.ou.edu or Outlook 2007. OWA 2007 features: * Enhanced calendar interface that offers a user friendly viewing pane, color coded categories, and click and drag capability to easily update meeting times. * Improved follow-up and task management features that allow you to set color-coded categories for your email and to add deadlines and reminders to follow-up items. * Streamlined address book integration that remembers the addresses you type and provides easy access to contact information in the global address list. * Fewer pop-up windows. * Faster search function with better advanced search options. OWA 2007 QUESTIONS * Where are the Public Folders? Public folders are not yet available through the Exchange 2007 OWA interface. Access public folders at https://exchange.ou.edu/public * Can I still set spam and filtering rules? You can set spam rules using the Outlook desktop client. OU IT will add this option in to the Exchange 2007 web access this fall. Existing rules will still apply. * Where is the options link? The options link has moved to the top right-hand corner of the screen. * How can I check my Resource Mailbox? https://servicenow.ou.edu/kb_view.do?sys_id=d80ec0867f00000101b44e599b639c9b&sysparm_nameofstack= Visit http://support.ou.edu for documentation or http://exchangeit.ou.edu for more information about this project.
