COMMUNICATIONS
To make sure students, faculty, and staff understood the impact of this project and the options available, OU IT embarked on an intensive promotional campaign. About 18,000 students responded by registering for exchange it! or transfer it!.
The following details the materials we used in this campaign:
Mass Emails
We sent the following mass emails out beginning in mid-April and continuing throughout the project:

Print Promotion Materials
OU IT distributed the following materials across campus beginning in mid-April to raise awareness for the project (click items to view graphic file):
- Table Tents - OU IT placed over 1,200 table tents in Oklahoma Memorial Union, Couch Cafeteria, Bizzell Library, student common areas, and all computer labs across campus.
- Yard Signs - Approximately 75 of these 16" x 12" display "yard signs" were distributed in high traffic areas around campus.
- Flyers - Over 2,000 flyers adorned walls, cork-boards, and doors.
- Oklahoma Daily Ads - These ads appeared every day in the Oklahoma Daily for three consecutive weeks beginning in mid-April.
- Newspaper Articles - The following articles appeared in the Oklahoma Daily and on HUB:
Electronic Advertising
The following electronic advertisements were placed in high visibility areas of campus technology services:
- Desktop Wallpaper - This wallpaper appeared on the desktop of every OU IT computer lab workstation.
- OU Mail Banner - The OU Mail Banner was posted across the top of the OU Mail log-in page throughout the project.
- Facebook - Our Exchange ad was posted on Facebook roughly 350,000 times.
- exchangeit website - OU IT developed this exchange it! website in April to help answer questions about the new system.
- HUB Ad - The HUB ran our ad for the last 3 weeks of the semester.
- Informational Text - We added informational text about Exchange to many technology sites, including learn.ou.edu, support.ou.edu, Campus Notices, and the IT store.
Other Promotions
- Cookie hand-outs - In concert with Food Services, we distributed over 500 free cookie coupons attached to flyers.
- Demonstrations - Provided demonstrations for various groups across campus, including:
