MPGE Graduate Programs

The Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological Engineering is a leading research institution that has a tradition of excellence dating back to its earliest days. MPGE Graduate Admissions Requirements

Applicants must meet or exceed the University of Oklahoma's Graduate College Requirements. Applicants should also have or be about to have successfully completed coursework for a petroleum engineering or related degree program. Relevant work experience will be considered for applicants who do not have a prior petroleum engineering or related degree.

To be considered, applicants should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the most recent two years of academic work
  • Resume
  • Transcripts
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose

Previous Research experience and publications will also be a significant factor in applicant evaluation, especially for the Ph.D. programs.

Not all professors will require their students to take the GRE. Please reach out to the professor you wish to work with to inquire if they will require you to take the GRE.

When selecting OU as one of your GRE score recipients, please only use the institutional code (6879) without the addition of the department code.
