NORMAN, OKLA. – The University of Oklahoma has named Marci Gracey as the university’s new Associate Vice President and Institutional Equity Officer, effective Oct. 5, pending final approval of the OU Board of Regents. Gracey has served in the role in an interim capacity since April. As Associate Vice President and Institutional Equity Officer, she will oversee the Institutional Equity Office, which is responsible for guiding the OU community in preventing and addressing all forms of protected class harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct, promoting an equitable and safe educational and workplace environment at OU.
“Fostering a welcoming and safe culture at the University of Oklahoma is of utmost importance, and with her extensive knowledge, legal acumen and collaborative approach, Marci Gracey will be instrumental in guiding these efforts across our community,” said OU President Joseph Harroz Jr.
For the past three years, Gracey has served as an attorney in the OU Office of Legal Counsel, with expertise spanning a wide range of areas, including anti-discrimination law, employee relations and student conduct. In the last two years, Gracey has obtained three certifications from the Association of Title IX Administrators, the nation’s leading membership organization for Title IX professionals. In her interim role in the Institutional Equity Office, she has been instrumental in helping the university navigate updates to federal Title IX regulations to ensure compliance.
She began her career with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where she held various roles, ultimately serving as deputy director. At DHS, her responsibilities included resolving complex employee relations issues, reviewing child welfare investigations and casework, and resolving grievances filed by employees and agency customers.
Prior to earning her Juris Doctorate from the OU College of Law, Gracey earned a Master of Arts in history from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Arts in history from East Central University.
