OKLAHOMA CITY – The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine has announced the appointment of T.R. Lewis, M.D., as associate dean for student affairs, effective Jan. 25, 2026, pending approval by the OU Board of Regents.
Lewis is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopedics. He completed his residency at OU in 2009 and has been a faculty member in the College of Medicine since joining Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health in 2010.
As associate dean, Lewis will oversee all aspects of the medical student experience, including mentoring, advising and support programs and services. His commitment to fostering educational excellence and student well-being will further strengthen the College of Medicine’s inclusive and thriving learning environment.
Lewis succeeds Teresa Scordino, M.D., following her extraordinary tenure and impactful leadership as associate dean.
“Dr. Lewis is an accomplished medical educator and mentor, and we are excited to have him in this important role to further advance our college’s mission,” said Ian Dunn, M.D., executive dean of the College of Medicine.
Lewis has served as the Children’s - Core Medical Director for OU Children’s Physicians clinics on the OU Health campus. He is also a member of the OU Physicians and OU Medicine peer review committees, the Women’s and Children’s Quality and Safety committee, and the OU Physicians Compliance and Ethics committee. He also serves on the College of Medicine’s Faculty Board.
Before joining OU’s faculty, Lewis earned his medical degree from the Texas A&M University College of Medicine in 2004. He also received a Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Mo., and Washington University, training from 2009 to 2010.
Lewis also serves as a deacon and community group leader at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond and is a board member of Willow Springs Boys Ranch in Chandler, Ok.
