Session Descriptions

During this official welcome, you'll receive an introduction to the OU Family and a high-level overview of your orientation schedule, so you know what's in store.

This session is all about preparing you for your individual advising appointment later in the day. We'll explain what you can expect to discuss with your academic advisor, provide tips on how to make the most of your meeting, and ensure you have all the materials you need, like your transcripts, to make informed decisions about your coursework.

Part of your academic journey and success is having a plan in place to pay for college. Our MidFirst MoneyCoaches are here to help you. During this time, you will receive information on FERPA, billing, bursar, scholarship requirements, and helpful tips. After, our MidFirst MoneyCoaches will walk you and your family through your individual financial success plan and how to utilize this free tool! This is a great time to ask questions and secure your plan, as a family, for paying for OU.

Your health and wellbeing are a top priority at OU. In this session, you'll get an overview of the comprehensive health, counseling, and wellness services offered on campus to support you both physically and mentally throughout your time as a student.

This is the big one - your chance to meet with an academic advisor from your specific college. You'll discuss your academic interests, have your questions answered, and even get enrolled in your first-semester classes. Be sure to come prepared with your transcripts and a list of any subjects you're hoping to explore.

At OU, we recognize that a student’s success is contingent not only upon them, but their community. And more often than not, that starts with their supporters, family, and guardians. In this session you’ll hear from our Director of Parent & Family Programs, Tracy Carlson, on the ins and outs of supporting for your student at OU.
