Horizons: Class of 2026

Precollegiate Programs is pleased to add Horizons to its portfolio of programs.

Each year, Precollegiate Programs invites rising 7th and 8th grade students to participate in Horizons, an immersive program that connects middle school learners with the University of Oklahoma. Through hands-on courses in a variety of disciplines, students build confidence, creativity, and curiosity while experiencing a taste of college life. Summer 2026 themes include Stage & Sound: Music and Drama and Logic & Programming, introducing students to the worlds of drama, music , coding, and creative problem-solving.

Location

Sessions will take place on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. Details will be forthcoming within the next few weeks!

Course Content

Stage & Sound: Music and Drama

Students explore the world of performance through music and theatre in this creative, collaborative course. Participants will experiment with acting, storytelling, and musical expression while learning how performers bring characters and stories to life on stage. Through guided activities and group exercises, students will build confidence, develop stage presence, and discover the power of creative collaboration. - July 13th - 17th 

Logic & Programming

Students discover how computers think through coding, puzzles, and problem-solving challenges. This hands-on course introduces the foundations of programming while exploring the mathematical logic that powers modern technology. Through interactive activities, students will learn how algorithms work, experiment with coding concepts, and develop strategies for tackling complex problems. - July 27th - 31st
