Project Crossroads: Meterology introduces students to the science of weather through hands-on activities and collaborations with scientists across the National Weather Center. Students explore how clouds and precipitation form, how meteorologists observe the atmosphere using instruments and remote sensing, and how weather models help scientists create forecasts. They also examine larger climate patterns, severe weather development, and how forecasters communicate watches, warnings, and safety information to the public. The week concludes with a college and career panel from the School of Meteorology, giving students insight into pathways toward studying atmospheric science and other STEM fields.
