Welcome to our Website

The Professional Writing Student Association, or PWSA, was formed to promote collaboration between Professional Writing students, faculty, and other interested parties. PWSA also promotes interest in the Professional Writing program among the students of the University of Oklahoma.

PWSA's Goals Include:

  • Annually surveying PW students.
  • Helping sponsor events to promote writing craftsmanship
  • Facilitate cooperation among students to develop their writing abilities.
  • Advocate for needed resources for the PW program.
  • Have fun.

The PWSA Short Story Contest is now open! Entry Guidelines are as follows:

  • 3 Judging Categories - PW Graduate, PW Undergraduate, and University-Open
  • Submission Details: $3 entry fee per submission, cash/check/money order made out to "PWSA," submission(s) must be between 1,000-2,500 wds., 12-pt. font, double-spaced on plain paper. Top of first page should include name, major, student ID, and preferred method of contact. Staple or paper-clip entry, place in plain envelope labeled "PWSA Short Story Contest Submission," and drop it off in Prof. Chester's office in Gaylord Hall or the PW Lounge.
  • All submissions must be turned in no later than 4pm on Friday, December 7th, 2007. Thanks for your participation!
