LT Love is a native of Gilbert, Arizona. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy as a Machinist’s Mate (Nuclear) in September of 2011. His training consisted of Nuclear Field A-school, Nuclear Power School, and Prototype (S8G). Upon the completion of Prototype, he was selected to train to become an ELT (Engineering Laboratory Technician). Once finished with ELT training, he was selected to become a Junior Staff Instructor at Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Ballston Spa. LT Love completed a 2.5-year instructor tour, during which he applied to and was selected for the 21st Century Seaman to Admiral (STA-21) program to become a Surface Warfare Officer (Nuclear).
Through the STA-21 program, LT Love began his undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University in May of 2016 and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May of 2019. During his final year, he selected USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) for his first sea duty tour.
He reported to the USS RUSSELL in San Diego, CA in October 2019. He was CF Division Officer for his first four months onboard and then became the Strike Officer for the remainder of his time onboard. During his tour in USS RUSSELL, he served as Strike Officer for two Seventh Fleet deployments. Upon the completion of his tour, he returned to Charleston, SC for Nuclear Power School and Prototype.
After completing Nuclear Power School and then Prototype on the Moored Training Ship (MTS) 701, LT Love reported to USS GERALD R FORD (CVN 78) in Norfolk, VA in August of 2022. He served as the Reactor Auxiliaries Division Officer for four months, the Reactor Laboratories Division Officer for 10 months, and then as the Assistant Reactor Electrical Assistant for the remainder of his time onboard following Nuclear Engineering Officer qualification. During his tour in USS GERALD R FORD, he served for the ship’s maiden 8.5-month Sixth Fleet deployment.
LT Love’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various other unit and personal awards.
LT Love currently resides in Norman, OK with his dog Albi.
