Allison came to OU to pursue her Master of Education degree in 2016, after completing a bachelor's degree at Kansas State University. Before she joined FYLE as the Senior Academic Resilience Coordinator, she worked in Housing and Food Services, Academic Advising, Classroom Instruction, and Tutoring. No matter where she's been, she's stayed focused on helping students find their footing when college doesn't go as planned. Some of her favorite things include: spending time with her family, traveling around the world, quilting, and playing video games.
Watching the Sooner Schooner race onto the field at football games never gets old! It’s one of the most exciting moments of game day!
Watching things click for students is the best part of my job especially that moment when they realize just how many resources are available to help them succeed. Once that light bulb goes on, I get to watch them run with it: making lifelong friends, acing a tough exam, landing that first internship. It's incredibly rewarding to see them grow into the people they're meant to become, one "aha" moment at a time.
Don't wait until things feel dire to ask for help. Use every resource available to you along the way. Remember, nearly everyone at this university wants to see you succeed and graduate, so lean on that support system! And plan, plan, plan for your bright future! A little preparation now builds a strong safety net you'll be glad to have later.
