Juan Angel Bernal

Juan Bernal is an international student from Bogotá who has been living in the United States for the past 7 years. He earned his bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an associate’s degree in Mathematics from San Jacinto Community College. Juan has served as a Resident Advisor in Couch Center and worked as a math tutor, which strengthened his passion for supporting students. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering while continuing to help first-year students with their transition to college life. Outside of academics, Juan loves playing basketball, drinking coffee, and watching sports.

I think it’s funny how so many students go out of their way to avoid walking under the Clocktower because of the legend that if you walk under it, you won’t graduate on time. I never walked under it myself, better safe than sorry.

The best part about working with students is seeing how much they grow and develop throughout the semester. Additionally, I enjoy being able to relate with many of their experiences and support them throughout this new stage of their life.

Always be open to connecting with people around you; you never know what opportunities, friendships or experiences can come from a simple conversation. Make an effort to talk with your professors, staff, TAs, and classmates. Building relationships and asking questions can open a lot of doors, and make your college experience even better.
