Puja Sitoula is an international student from Nepal and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Science of Psychology, Data Science & Research in Education at the University of Oklahoma. She has a background in psychology, research, student support, and human resources, and she currently works as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Academic Success Center, where she enjoys supporting the ASC team and contributing to students’ academic success. Outside of academics and work, Puja loves traveling, exploring new places, and learning about different cultures. One of her biggest goals is to travel the world and experience as many different places and cultures as she can.

My favorite OU tradition is the Eve of Nations because it celebrates the different cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make the OU community so diverse and special. As an international student from Nepal, I love seeing students from around the world share their cultures through food, music, dance, and traditional clothing. It reminds me that no matter where we come from, there is a place for everyone at OU and that every culture has something meaningful to contribute.

The best part about working with students is getting to know how unique each person is and learning from their different experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. I love listening to their stories and understanding that everyone has their own strengths, challenges, and way of learning. It is rewarding to support students as individuals and help them feel seen, heard, and confident in their own journey.

My best advice for undergraduate students is to never be afraid to ask for help and to take advantage of the resources available on campus. College is a time to learn, grow, and discover yourself, so I encourage students to connect with professors, advisors, tutors, and other people who can support them along the way. Most importantly, believe in yourself, be open to learning from your experiences, and remember that it is okay to not have everything figured out.
