Music: Piano and Organ
Program Description
Students in the Piano and Organ areas of the School of Music are part of a program that has influenced keyboard performance and education around the world. OU's distinguished and nationally recognized faculty and state-of-the-art facilities ensure Piano and Organ students the opportunities and experiences necessary to develop their talent to its highest level. The department offers a broad range of degree programs, including piano performance, pedagogy or combination programs at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. OU Piano and Organ students enjoy outstanding music education experience, including weekly private instruction with the award-winning faculty, studio performance classes and departmental recitals. Celebrated guest artists and scholars from across the nation also regularly present lectures, master classes and recitals.
In addition to general university admission requirements, Piano and Organ students must pass an audition before being admitted to the School of Music.
Degree Options
A Piano and Organ student graduates with a Bachelor of Music in Piano or Organ degree. Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees are also available.
Interests & Skills
Piano and Organ students typically have interests in music performance, theory and technique, along with musical movements and history. High school preparation should include training in instrumental technique, sightreading and performance experience.

OU's commitment to excellence in its keyboard programs is further demonstrated by Catlett Music Center's extraordinary three-manual, 38-stop pipe organ, handcrafted by C.B. Fisk, one of the world's foremost organ-building firms.
