5 Reasons to Start Your College Search Now

The idea of visiting college campuses may or may not have crossed your mind yet, but here are five reasons why OU admissions counselors believe now is the best time to start your college search!

1. Get a Head Start

It’s never too early to start looking for your best fit—and we can only hope that you find it here at the University of Oklahoma! Visit your personalized You at OU portal to see what awaits you! As you begin your college search, it'll be likely you visit multiple campuses. At any time, you can also explore OU's campus and our resources through our in-depth virtual tours.

2. Explore Our Academic Programs

At OU, we offer Concurrent Enrollment. There are endless benefits to Concurrent Enrollment—on top of earning college credit, you will have the opportunity to explore academic interests and gain valuable experiences and connections with the OU family.

Do you already know what you want to study? If so, you'll get to learn a little more about the program and what a day-in-the-life for those students looks like. If not, no worries! We have 170+ majors to choose from and you can complete our My Majors quiz to help you find your best fit!

3. Learn About the Application Process

Find out what you can be doing now to make yourself stand out when it comes time to submit your application. When evaluating applications, OU recognizes that students are more than just a test score, and for that reason, we are test optional.

4. Talk with Current Students About Their Experiences

All our tour guides are current students and love to share their favorite things about OU, campus life, and what it’s like to live in Norman. To chat with a current OU student and talk about all things related to the OU undergrad experience, current high schoolers can register for a Connect Appointment

5. Meet Your Admissions Counselor

Each prospective student is assigned an admissions counselor. Find your admissions counselor here! They're here to help you find your way and answer any questions you have on your journey to becoming a Sooner. Meet them while you’re on campus so you can put a face to a name when you have those questions that come up down the road.
