Transfer Admissions

Thank you for considering OU as you plan the next step in your education! We welcome the different perspectives transfer students bring to the Sooner family. You are classified as a transfer student if you have attended an accredited college or university and have attempted more than 6 semester hours, excluding remedial (pre-college) work or credit hours accumulated as a concurrently enrolled high school student.

In order to be admitted to OU, transfer students must have completed 7 non-remedial college credit hours at an accredited college or university post high school graduation. Transfer students with fewer than 24 non-remedial credit hours attempted must meet the direct from high school admission requirements in addition to their specific academic college’s transfer GPA requirement. Transfer students with 24 non-remedial credit hours attempted or more must meet their specific academic college’s transfer GPA requirement.

How to Apply

1. Submit the OU application. This includes a $40, non-refundable application fee for domestic applicants.

2. Request your supporting documents be sent to us.

  • Official transcripts from each collegiate institution attended
  • Final high school transcript
  • ACT or SAT scores (if you have fewer than 24 semester hours of college level work)

Institutions can send documents directly to us electronically or by mail:

All transcripts, test scores, correspondence, or other materials submitted in conjunction with an application for admission become the permanent property of the university and will not be returned. Should you need copies of your transcripts for other purposes, you must obtain them from the originating institution(s).

3. Once the Office of Admissions & Recruitment has received your application and all supporting documents, we will evaluate and verify your academic credentials. You should receive a notification of your admission decision through regular mail within four to six weeks.
