What your educational background?

Bachelor's Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies
University of Oklahoma
Class of 2009

As a student, where did you leave your mark on campus?

On the football field, not as an athlete, but as a member of the Pride of Oklahoma. I was very involved with the marching band during my time here as a student. Some of my favorite memories as a college student was running out of the tunnels for a pre-game show and marching in the bowl games.

Define the OU Family in your own words.

The first word that comes to my mind is consistency. Throughout the entire process of obtaining your degree, you get a sense that everyone is eager to help you navigate campus. From fellow students, faculty and staff, there is a welcoming feeling that helps an individual feel like they’re home. Nothing gives confidence like a consistent support system, and I believe we have that culture here on campus.

When was the moment you felt the greatest Sooner pride?

During the 2000 season, I was a member of the Pride of Oklahoma. We were playing Texas A&M in College Station and we were losing with clock rapidly winding down. Torrance Marshall, one of our linebackers, intercepted a pass and ran it back for a touchdown. I have seen Sooner Magic before, but something about their home crowd made victory seem impossible. After that touchdown we rallied to win the game and keep our perfect season. We went on to win the National Championship that year. It was epic!

What was the greatest gift you took with you after graduation?

A sense of accomplishment. I left OU in 2003 to pursue a career that didn’t require a degree.  The longer you stay out of school, the chances of you returning to finish your degree will decrease. I re-enrolled in the fall 2008 term and graduated in December 2009. My oldest child was in attendance during my graduation ceremony and I felt a great sense of accomplishment for coming back to finish what I had started.

Reveal one secret about campus.

Can you keep a secret?  Well, so can I. ;-)

What is your favorite OU tradition?

As a member of the marching band and an avid sports fan, I’d have to say my favorite tradition is the pre-game performance by the Pride of Oklahoma. I still get chills when the Drum Major drops his head back and starts their strut, all while the band begins to perform “Oklahoma”. It’s full of excellence!
