The Support Program for Individuals identifying as Neurodivergent (SPIN) is a structured support initiative coordinated by the Accessibility and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) at the University of Oklahoma.
SPIN assists students who learn and process information differently, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodivergent profiles. The program bridges the gap between high school support (such as IEPs and 504 Plans) and the independence of college life.
SPIN participants receive guided support through structured check-ins, collaborative workshops, and intentional connections with campus services such as the Academic Success Center, Career Center, and Writing Center. The program promotes self-advocacy, organization, and academic confidence as students develop autonomy and community on campus.
For the purposes of SPIN, neurodivergent refers to individuals whose thinking, learning, or social processing differs from what is considered typical. This includes variations such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other neurological differences that may influence learning, communication, or sensory experiences.
While the program primarily serves students on the Autism Spectrum, other neurodivergent students may be considered if their stated goals align with SPIN’s structure and support, and if program capacity allows.
Participation in SPIN is open to students who meet the following criteria:
