Student Rights and Responsibilities

Students have the right to:

• Equal access to educational programs, services, and activities.
• Request reasonable and appropriate accommodations.
• Discuss issues related to their accommodation(s) with the ADRC and, if necessary, seek redress through appropriate administrative channels.
• Appeal an accommodation decision with the director of the ADRC - adrc@ou.edu.
• Report any discrimination on the basis of a disability with OU's instiutational Equity Office

Students have the responsibility to:

• Meet with ADRC staff for an initial intake appointment to discuss the nature and impact of their disabilities and identify appropriate accommodations.
• Provide appropriate documentation of disability, engage in the interactive process with ADRC staff, and discuss their history of disability and accommodations. Read more about our full documentation guidelines.
• Request accommodations through iAdvise each semester or whenever they change their schedule.
• Initiate all requests for services and/or accommodations through the ADRC.
• Provide for their own personal, independent living, transportation, and other disability-related needs.
• Communicate with your faculty to ensure they are aware and providing your exams/quizzes with the accommodations you are approved for before you go to take your scheduled exam/quiz at the OU Testing Center.
