Carolyn Kloek

Chief Medical Officer, OU Health

Carolyn Kloek, M.D., MBA, is the inaugural Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for OU Health, the University of Oklahoma's academic health system and the state's only fully integrated, comprehensive academic health system. She was named to the role in March 2023 and leads clinical performance and outcomes across the system.

As CMO, Dr. Kloek has built the systems, teams, and leadership structures required to make clinical improvement an enterprise capability — designed to sustain results beyond any single initiative or tenure. She rebuilt the clinical performance infrastructure of the health system, established the senior clinical leadership team that drives it — including a Chief Quality and Safety Officer, Chief Experience Officer, Chief Medical Informatics Officer, VP of Care Management, and a team of Associate Chief Medical Officers covering the major clinical service areas — and advanced an enterprise-wide culture of safety alongside organization-wide capability in process improvement and high reliability.

Under her leadership, OU Health has made meaningful change in critical clinical outcomes including reduced adult mortality index by 50%, moved hospital-acquired infection rates from the bottom 10% nationally to the top 10%, and more than doubled safety event reporting. She is first author of an April 2026 NEJM Catalyst article on the OU Health transformation and has been recognized as a Hospital and Health System Chief Medical Officer to Know by Becker's Healthcare (2023–2026).

Dr. Kloek served on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for twelve years before joining OU Health and continues to practice as a comprehensive ophthalmologist at the Dean McGee Eye Institute and is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology. She earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a Healthcare MBA from George Washington University.

Paul Brooks

Jones Chair in Data Science and Analytics, OU School of Industrial and Systems Engineering

Paul Brooks, Ph.D., is a professor and the Charles Jones Chair in Data Science and Analytics in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Oklahoma (OU).  He joins OU this fall after 20 years on the faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia.  His research focuses on using optimization to create new methods for data analysis and on applying them in various biomedical domains.  His current interests are in interpretable AI and automated scientific discovery.  During his tenure at VCU, he contributed to the Human Microbiome Project, leading teams in multi-omic data integration and analyzing relationships with maternal health outcomes.

Erik Holbrook

Chief Clinical Informatics Fellow, Mass General Brigham Primary Care Physician, Brigham and Women’s Hosptial

Erik Holbrook, MD, MS, is a family medicine physician and clinical cnformatics fellow at Mass General Brigham and Harvard Medical School. His background includes training in computer science, mathematics, machine learning, and natural language processing, with a focus on the practical application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. His current work centers on the implementation and evaluation of clinical AI tools, particularly ambient documentation technologies. He has studied their effects on clinician experience, burnout, documentation burden, EHR time, adoption, and workflow, as well as broader approaches to measuring the value of AI within health systems. His research interests also include large language models, clinical summarization, and the implications of generative AI for medical education. His work focuses on how healthcare organizations can evaluate, learn from, and responsibly scale AI interventions in real-world clinical practice.

Aaron Cohen

Flatiron Health, Inc.

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine, NYU Langone School of Medicine

Aaron is a medical oncologist, clinical informatician, and epidemiologist serving as Head of Clinical AI and Digital Oncology at Flatiron Health. In this role, he helps shape Flatiron’s AI and data strategy, working cross-functionally with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and clinical teams to develop clinically grounded AI capabilities spanning EHR data curation, insight extraction, predictive modeling, and decision support.

Drawing on his perspective as both a practicing clinician and health outcomes researcher, Aaron’s work focuses on novel approaches to AI quality evaluation and benchmarking, as well as ensuring that AI tools are grounded in real clinical needs, aligned with how care is delivered in practice, and held to rigorous standards for validity, transparency, and trust. He has published extensively on these topics and presented his work at national and international forums, including ASCO, the National Cancer Policy Forum, and the National Cancer Institute.

In addition to his work at Flatiron, Aaron is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at NYU School of Medicine and cares for patients with solid tumor malignancies at Bellevue Hospital. He completed his undergraduate degree, medical degree, and M.S. in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and clinical informatics.

Ian F. Dunn

Ian F. Dunn, M.D., FACS, FAANS, is executive dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and the inaugural chief academic officer and chief physician executive of OU Health, the University of Oklahoma’s academic health system and the state’s only fully integrated, comprehensive academic health system.

He joined the OU College of Medicine in 2018 as professor and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery.  During this time, he recruited the most comprehensive neurosurgical group in Oklahoma and expanded clinical services across the state while growing educational and research initiatives.   He played a pivotal role in OU Health’s formation and served as the inaugural chief physician executive from October 2021 and as the first president of OU Health Partners, our system’s physician group. He was then appointed executive deanof the OU College of Medicine in January 2024.

Internationally recognized for brain tumor and meningioma research, Dr. Dunn has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed journal publications. He was elected to the American Academy of Neurological Surgery in October 2024 and named to the AAMC Council of Deans Administrative Board in April 2026.

Dr. Dunn earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he later served as an associate professor of neurosurgery, and as director of the Center for Pituitary and Skull Base Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Ahmed Arshad

Ahmed Arshad is a physician leader in Health Informatics and Artificial Intelligence. Currently, he serves as the Associate CMIO and Medical Director of Clinical AI at OU Health where his focus is on safe and effective implementation of AI to augment the delivery of health care. 

Dr. Arshad is a practicing clinician and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Oklahoma Children's Hospital. He is board certifiied in Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and Clinical Informatics. He obtained a Masters of Science in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Chicago. 

His research interests lie at the intersection of pediatric outcomes and machine learning. 

Susan Gregurick

Director of the Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS)

Susan K. Gregurick, Ph.D., was appointed Associate Director for Data Science and Director of the Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on September 16, 2019. Under her leadership, ODSS leads the implementation of the NIH Strategic Plan for Data Science through scientific, technical collaboration with the institutes, centers, and offices that comprise NIH. Dr. Gregurick received the 2020 Leadership in Biological Sciences Award from the Washington Academy of Sciences, which recognizes work of merit and distinction of scientists and leaders in the greater Washington area.

Prior to joining ODSS, Dr. Gregurick was the Division Director for Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences at the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), where she led the institutes effort to reimagine the NIGMS technology programs through National and Regional Resources to support state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, technologies, research tools, software, and service.

Prior to government service, Dr. Gregurick was a professor of computational chemistry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She received her B.S. in chemistry and mathematics from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Maryland.

Sean Mooney

Director, Center for Information Technology

Dr. Sean Mooney serves as the Director of the NIH Center for Information Technology and the NIH Associate Director for Information Technology, Cyberinfrastructure and Cybersecurity (AD ITCC). 

As the Director of CIT, he is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and direction for CIT. This includes overseeing an approximately $500 million portfolio that includes a world-renowned supercomputer that allows researchers to conduct large-scale data analyses; a state-of-the-art network that enables research across NIH and around the world; cloud-based services that give researchers a cost-effective way to access datasets and advanced computational tools and services; and the latest collaboration tools to promote flexibility and productivity. As the Associate Director for ITCC, Dr. Mooney oversees the NIH Office of the Chief Information Officer, which is responsible for NIH enterprise IT strategy, policy, architecture and oversight.

Greg Sawyer

W. Gregory Sawyer is Chief BioEngineering Officer and Chair of the Department of BioEngineering at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida.  Prof. Sawyer has published over 200 journal papers, has over 16,000 citations, holds over 20 patents, and is most proud of his numerous PhD students that are now faculty members and scientists across the globe. He was a member of the original Mars Rover Program (NASA-JPL), a speaker at TED 8, lead the first space-tribology experiments on the International Space Station (ISS), developed novel biomaterials for the ocular surface, and is currently leading efforts in Cancer Engineering.

Wei Chen

Director, OU Stephenson School of 

Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Wei R. Chen received his Ph.D. in Theoretical High-Energy Particle Physics from the University of Oregon in 1988. He transitioned his research focus from physics to cancer in the early 1990s. Dr. Chen joined the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME) at the University of Oklahoma in 2020 and currently serves as Stephenson Endowed Chair, Professor, and Director of SBME. He is the Director of the Oklahoma Center of ImmunoEngineering (OCIE), funded through the NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) program. A pioneer in the field of immunophotonics, Dr. Chen and his team developed a localized ablative immunotherapy for metastatic cancers that combines local ablation with the local administration of novel immunostimulants. This innovative approach has demonstrated promising results in both preclinical studies and early clinical trials. Dr. Chen has published more than 210 peer-reviewed articles (h-index: 64; over 12,400 citations) and holds 12 U.S. patents as well as multiple international patents. As a Principal Investigator, he has secured more than $20 million in research funding from state and federal agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors. Dr. Chen was elected as a Fellow of SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics) in 2007, a Fellow of AIMBE (American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering) in 2022, and a Senior Member of NAI (National Academy of Inventors) in 2024. Prior to joining OU, he served as Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Dean of the College of Mathematics and Science at the University of Central Oklahoma from 2016 to 2020. An accomplished educator, Dr. Chen received the 2008 U.S. Professor of the Year award and the 2011–2012 U.S. Fulbright Lecturing/Research Award. He was also honored with the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence’s Medal for Excellence in Teaching in 2011 and the SPIE Educator Award in 2012. Dr. Chen is a co-founder and board director of Immunophotonics, Inc., a biotech company. Immunophotonics received the US FDA approval in April 2023 for a Phase 1b/2a multicenter clinical trial for patients with late-stage colorectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and soft tissue sarcoma, using the novel cancer therapy developed by Dr. Chen’s team.

Doris Benbrook

Associate Director for Translational Research, OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center

Doris Mangiaracina Benbrook, PhD, is the Associate Director of Translational Research at the Stephenson Cancer Center, Presbyterian Health Foundation Presidential Professor in the Gynecologic Oncology Section, Obstetrics and Gynecologic Oncology Department at the OU Health Campus and Member of the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center.  Her research is focused on developing drugs for prevention and treatment of gynecologic cancers and other diseases. Her major objective is to ensure that the drugs do not cause harmful side effects.  She recruited and led multidisciplinary teams to bring a drug (SHetA2, also called OK-1) from concept to a Phase 1 clinical trial (clinicaltrials.gov: NCT04928508) entirely within an academic setting with no pharmaceutical or dilutive funding. The Phase 1 trial showed no dose-limiting side effects of SHetA2 and the investigational drug is now being translated into an NCI-funded Phase 2 trial.

Dr. Benbrook is sharing her knowledge by developing and directing translational research curriculum at the University of Oklahoma and mentoring the translation of discoveries of others. She is mentoring and/or collaborating on projects using machine learning to identify endometrial cancer risk in patients with Type 2 Diabetes and using national data sets to identify and validate molecules and mutations associated with patient treatment outcomes. She serves as the Multi-Principal Investigator of the Route 66 Endometrial Cancer SPORE and Principal Investigator of a Partnering PI Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program grant.

Dr. Benbrook earned her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, USA.  As a postdoctoral researcher at the La Jolla Cancer Research Foundation (now the Burnham Institute) in San Diego, CA, USA, she discovered, cloned and characterized a retinoic acid receptor, thyroid hormone receptor and cholesterol receptor. During her tenure as a Research Fellow at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK) she discovered crosstalk between transcription factors demonstrating integration between different signal transduction pathways. 

Nirmal Choradia

Assistant Professor, OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center

Nirmal Choradia is a thoracic oncologist at the Stephenson Cancer Center. He was previously a oncology/cancer prevention fellow at the NIH and before that worked in health economics on Medicare’s Merit-based Incentive Payment System. He has expertise in applying AI to the field of oncology in the assessment of lung imaging models both in identification of early cancer and assessment of progression as well as using AI for early detection of different types of cancer. His overall interests are in early cancer detection and cancer interception.

Sebastian Nickel

Sebastian is a Strategy Lead at Siemens Healthineers specializing in solutions powered by artificial intelligence for imaging centers, imaging departments, and service lines within health systems. He is passionate about driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge products/services that leverage deep learning, computer vision, and/or agents to solve real-world challenges. Over the past five years he has helped numerous hospitals explore the technology, give strategic direction, and implement it into daily clinical use

Ankur Kapoor

Vice President, Head of AI for Automation, Digital Technologies, and Innovation

At Siemens, I lead a research team developing the next generation of operational twins for process automation from services, diagnostics, imaging to therapy. These have been deployed in practice for diverse applications such as services and flexible robotic systems.

I also lead a research team building patient-specific 3D avatars based on data streams from RGB/D (color + depth) cameras. This research has been transferred into clinical products from Siemens Healthineers for Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR) and X-ray modalities. Recently, I led the research and development of Siemens Healthineers’ Operational Twin is an AI‑enabled agentic platform designed to simulate and optimize complex healthcare operations, from large‑scale service planning to department‑level workflow improvements.

Richard Kennedy

Professor, OU College of Medicine

I am Professor in the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care in the Department of Medicine at OUHSC. I have dual training as a doctoral-level biostatistician (with post-doctoral training in statistical genetics) and as a psychiatrist (with fellowship training in psychosomatic medicine). My primary interest is in the intersection between medical illness and neurobehavioral disorders in the aging process. My work in this area has encompassed a variety of cognitive disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke, as well as healthy aging.  I recently served as an Associate Director for the UAB Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE) and Associate Director of the UAB Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) Data Core. I am part of multiple projects examining applications of natural language processing (NLP) for identification of delirium and other underrecognized geriatric syndromes utilizing EHR data, and in Age-Friendly Health Systems initiatives to improve screening and treatment of geriatric syndromes by non-geriatricians.

David Bard

Chief Research Informatics Officer, OU College of Medicine

David E. Bard, PhD, is Professor of Pediatrics at The University of Oklahoma Health Campus, where he serves as Director of the Biomedical and Behavioral Methodology Core (BBMC) and Chief Research Informatics Officer. He is also Director of the Environmental and Biological Research on Adversity and Resiliency (EmBRACER) center.

Dr. Bard’s work sits at the intersection of implementation science, advanced quantitative methods, and research informatics. His research focuses on understanding and improving outcomes related to early-life adversity and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), with an emphasis on translating evidence into scalable, real-world service systems.

Across his roles, he leads interdisciplinary efforts that integrate clinical, administrative, and biological data to support learning health systems, improve program effectiveness, and accelerate the adoption of evidence-based interventions in child health and human services settings.

David Kendrick

Chair in Medical Informatics, OU School of Community Medicine, Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Planning, OU Health Campus

Dr. David Kendrick is the principal investigator and CEO of MyHealth Access Network, Oklahoma’s non-profit health information network, which ensures that every Oklahoman’s complete health record is securely available where and when they need it for care and health decision-making. 

Dr. Kendrick is the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), which developed the first comprehensive quality measurement programs with HEDIS, as well as certification programs for Patient Centered Medical Homes and Specialty Care. Dr. Kendrick is also a member of the board of the Patient Centered Data Home program and previously served on both the boards of the Strategic HIE Collaborative and the Networks for Regional Health Improvement before their recent merger to become the Civitas Networks for Health. Dr. Kendrick served as the Senior Counsel for Interoperability to National Health IT Coordinator, Dr. Karen DeSalvo, and continues to serve as a consultant to the Office of the National Coordinator as well as CMS and other state and federal agencies.

Gary Raskob

Senior Vice President and Provost, The University of Oklahoma Health Campus

Gary E. Raskob, PhD, is Senior Vice President and Provost at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus, with overall responsibility for the educational and research programs of its seven colleges, as well as the Stephenson Cancer Center and the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center. He also serves on the boards of the OU Health system and the University Hospitals Authority and Trust. He holds academic appointments as Regents Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine with research interests in the prevention and treatment of deep-vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, clinical trials and antithrombotic drug development. Raskob has participated extensively in clinical practice guideline development for several specialty organizations including the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), the American Thoracic Society (ATS), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Raskob is a past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, the organization which represents more than 100 universities in the US and globally with accredited schools and programs in public health, and a past Chair of the Oklahoma City-County Board of Health, which has oversight responsibility for the health department serving the 1.3 million residents of Oklahoma City-County.

Raskob received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Oklahoma, a Master of Science degree in clinical epidemiology and health research methodology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, and a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacology from the University of Toronto, Canada.
