Jessi's Coaching Mindset: "I believe coaching is simply unlocking the potential that already resides in students; empowering them to reach their goals/best. It exists to provide and/or increase hope. I want a student leaving my office feeling better, more equipped, more grounded, and more excited than when they first come in..”

Top Defining Moments in Higher Education:

  • Observing classrooms in my first major (Elementary Education). Helped me realize I did NOT want to be an elementary school teacher.
  • Making friendships with international students and helping them with their papers. This made me realize I loved other languages, cultures and helping people.
  • Changing my major my junior year! This stretched me, made me adaptable and more motivated towards my future.
  • Getting my student job in the admissions office of my alma mater - this helped me make connections that got me my first full-time job in higher education.
  • Learning in my first full-time job what I loved doing, didn't like doing, and wish I could do more of. When the position in my current job became available, it was a perfect combination of what I learned I wanted.

While in college, I experienced:

  • Balancing work and school.
  • Being undecided on a major.
  • Not having a sense of belonging.
  • Academic motivation chellenges.
  • Overcoming daily challenges through resiliency.
